Helen Mae Lessman

Helen Mae Lessman, 93, of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at a local care facility. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Private burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Helen was born on May 30, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Conrad and Marie (Huck) Kehling. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947.

On June 3, 1950 she married Harlan “Jiggs” Lessman, Sr. in Lincoln. The two were married for 50 years before his death on September 7, 2000.

Helen was a devoted homemaker, and a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her children: Harlan Lessman (Bev) of Sioux City; and Randy Lessman of Sioux City; son-in-law, Ron Westeen of Sioux City; sister, Alva DuBois of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her father, Conrad, and mother, Marie; a daughter, Cindy (Lessman) Westeen; and four siblings: Phil Kehling; Marguerite Chapin; Dorothy Heidenreich; and Millie Pappas.
