Helen P. Rath, 85, of Merrill, IA passed away at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE on Friday, January 25, 2013.Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.Helen was born on the family farm south of Oto, Iowa on March 17, 1927, the daughter of John and Marie (McCarty) Curtin. She attended country school, then worked on the family farm with her Dad. After her Dad passed away, Helen and her Mom moved to Sioux City, IA. She worked as a bookkeeper for Fullerton Lumber Company for 32 years, until they closed and she retired. Helen married Harry Rath on December 24, 1970 in Dakota City, NE. The couple lived in Merrill, IA.Helen enjoyed embroidery and spending time with her family.Survivors include her step-daughter, Roxanne (Daryl) Daum of South Sioux City, NE; granddaughters, Elizabeth Pearson of South Sioux City, NE and Shauna Pearson of Jefferson, SD; great-grandchildren, Drew and Easton; nephews and nieces, Brian (Mary Jo) Curtin of Minneapolis, MN, Linda (John) Behrmann of Chattanooga, TN, Maureen Curtin, Sharon (Mark) Hoiland, and Paul (Juanita) Curtin, all of Sioux Falls, SD.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Curtin; her husband, Harry; one brother, Raymond, his wife, Maxine and their sons, Bruce and Rex Curtin; and one son-in-law, Robert Pearson.
