Herbert D. “Herb” Pranschke, 93, of Sioux City passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com
Herbert Delaine Pranschke was born on September 12, 1928 in Charter Oak, Iowa, to Edward and Augusta (Henschen) Pranschke. He was born and raised in Charter Oak. Herb served our nation in the United States Navy from 1945-1948, during which time he served in World War 2. On August 8, 1973 he married Gwendolyn E. Huss in Elk Point, SD.
He was a truck driver for Old Home Bread for over 30 years, and was a regular on the CB radio, known as "Tomcat." In his spare time, Herb enjoyed riding three-wheelers, fishing, and watching the Chicago Cubs. He loved taking his kids to local parks where they would play softball.
He is survived by his children: Bob Pranschke of Castana, IA; Debbie Rife of Blencoe, IA; Connie Little of Blencoe, IA; Diane Carter of Blencoe, IA; Dennis (Lynne) Pranschke of Storm Lake, IA; Matthew Pranschke of Sioux City; Adam Pranschke of Sioux City; Sabrina (Jesse) Barnett of Tonganoxie, KS; step-children: James Huss of Sioux City, David Huss of Sioux City; and Debbie (Dennis) Waddell of Jefferson, SD; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn in May of 2021; three children: Harold, Linda, and David; his parents; and his beloved Boxers: Charlie, Gypsy, AJ, and Jasmine, and Sissy.
