Jackie L. Simmons, 53, of Dakota City, NE passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.Memorial services will be at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.Jackie was born on August 30, 1963 in Ranger, Texas, the son of James and Terrella (Powers) Simmons. He moved to the South Sioux City area in 2007. He worked as a Sales Rep. at Charlston, Inc. in Sioux City, IA.Jackie enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns, the outdoors, helping other people, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Nebraska Huskers football teams.Survivors include his mother and step-father, Terry and JR Ewing of Texas; 2 daughters, Jaci (Trent) Goodrich and Jessica (Eric) Zwernemann, both of Texas; a step-son, Michael Cargile of Texas; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Debra Kay Dunne of Texas, Melissa (Dale) Hans of South Sioux City, NE and Tracey Jeanette Simmons of New York; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, James Simmons; and a brother, Bobby Earl Simmons.
