James W. Baker

James W. Baker, 88, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 4, 2022 at a local hospital.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jim was born on December 11, 1933 in Sioux City, IA to William and Dolly (Giffrow) Baker.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ward on July 14, 1956 in Sioux City.  Jim had a passion for racing.  He started in the 1950’s and continued throughout his life.  He was an excellent conversationalist who could tell you the history of just about anything and liked to reminisce.  He enjoyed traveling and fishing in Northern Minnesota.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 66 years Dorothy Baker; children: Terry (Toni) Baker, Tim Baker, Tom (JoAnn) Baker, Tracy Nichols; 6 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Marge) Baker, and sister, Betty Grotts.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Art Baker, sister, Ruth McDermott, and infant son, James.
