James "Jim" M. Peck, 75, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 in Seattle, WA.Memorial services will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M.on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.Jim was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 2, 1939, the son of Carl and Merel Rose (Noel) Peck. He grew up in Ft. Myers, Florida. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a green beret. He served at numerous stations for over 20 years before retiring. Jim met Deana Rae Zeitner on Memorial Day weekend in 1965. It was "love at first sight" and they were married on June 14, 1965 in Alexandria, Virginia. To this union 3 children were born. They lived in numerous places before Jim's retirement in 1975, when they settled in South Sioux City, NE.Jim was a member of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE, then Salem Lutheran Church in rural Dakota City, NE. He was also a member of the South Sioux City Eagle's. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, tinkering with anything, and was a jack-of-all-trades. He also fulfilled his lifelong dream of traveling, RV-ing and being a snowbird with his wife, Deana.Survivors include his wife, Deana Rae Peck of South Sioux City, NE; children, David Peck and his special friend, Cindy Giles of Seattle, WA, Frank (Shelly) Peck of Lincoln, NE, and JaNay (Brad) Rose of South Sioux City, NE; 3 granddaughters, Amanda Peck and her fianc, Taylor Maahs, Brooke Peck and Hope Rose; brothers, Carl (Bonnie) Peck of Kathleen, FL, and Thomas (Judy) Peck of Ft. Myers, FL; sister, Cheryl Peck of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Merel Rose Peck; and his in-laws, Paul and Hope Cushing.
