James D. Ruhland

James D. Ruhland, 64, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City of Covid-19 complications.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapel.com.

James D. Ruhland, the son of Arthur and Dona (Witt) Ruhland, was born August 28, 1956 in LeMars, Iowa.

On June 9, 2002 James met the love of his life Pamela K. Pittman through a mutual friend, Darlene McArthur. On February 14, 2016, James’s parent’s anniversary James and Pamela were united in marriage at St. James Methodist Church in Sioux City, Iowa.

James served the City of Sioux City as a Police Officer for twenty years. He proudly held positions of Uniform Patrol his District being Eastside and cover car for Sioux City Police Department, K-9 Division as a handler with K-9 Busy, Field Training Officer for new recruits and had worked in the Juvenile Division as a Liaison Officer at North High School. James retired from the Sioux City Police Department in 2010 and in retirement Jim worked as a delivery driver for Bush Cleaners until he retired in 2019.

James enjoyed golf, NFL Football he was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan, his family was everything to him, good music, good times, he loved to cook always trying new recipes and hosting family get-togethers were what he really enjoyed.

James is survived by his Wife Pam, Sons Shawn (Sommer) Grandchildren Liam, Olivia and Klay Ruhland of Bennington, NE, Bradley Ruhland of Des Moines, IA and Chris (Claire) Ruhland of St. Louis Park, MN and their son Miles Ruhland. James Siblings, Robert D. Ruhland of Sgt Bluff, IA, Richard (Kay) Ruhland of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Karla (Ron) Garcia of Las Vegas, NM, Don Ruhland of Craig, IA, Glenda Roepke of LeMars, IA, and Marcia Miller of Woodland, WA. A Brother-in-Law Byron E. Dawdy of Sioux City, IA and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

James was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
