Janice Lea Nyreen

Janice Nyreen, 81, of Sioux City passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at a local care facility. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Pat Roberts will officiate. Janice was born September 5, 1938 in Sioux City to Nino and Maxine (Padgett) Mercuriali. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School. Following graduation, she married Edward “Ed” Nyreen on October 6, 1956 in Elk Point, SD. To this union, 4 children were born. Ed passed away on September 8, 1996.

Janice ran her own business, J.L. Nyreen and Company for 30+ years. She enjoyed bowling and dancing with Ed, camping, family trips to the cabin at Lake Shetek, and after Ed’s passing, traveling with the Shriners along with her significant other, Gene Saunders.

Those left to honor her memory are her sons Craig (Barb) Nyreen of Sioux Falls, SD and Brian Nyreen of Sioux City; daughters Sandy (Brian) Boisen of Lawton, IA and Diane (Pete) Jorgensen of Sioux City; sister Sherry Rich of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
