Jason F. Cline, the son of Robert and Edith (Carmack-Jewell) Cline, was born on August 20, 1958, in Sioux City, IA. He passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Sioux City after a long battle with health issues at the age of 66. He was known not only for his skilled career as a diesel mechanic but also for his vibrant personality and the warmth he brought to those around him.
Growing up and attending school in Sioux City, Jason cultivated a passion for mechanics at a young age, beginning his career as a teenager. He dedicated his life to the trade, eventually owning and operating D&J Truck and Trailer Repair until his retirement in 2019. His expertise and work ethic earned him a stellar reputation in the community, where he was highly regarded by both colleagues and clients alike.
Jason had a larger-than-life personality; he was a stubborn yet likable individual who enjoyed the company of many friends. He relished in life’s simple pleasures, often found camping, enjoying campfires, riding motorcycles, canoeing, and fishing with his father. His love for classic cars and listening to loud music showcased his zest for life. Dining out was another cherished activity that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends.
Above all, Jason took great pride in his family. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Jason (Jen) Dowty; his daughters, Jamie (Tony) Bigelow and Jillian Cantrell; and his brother, Larry (Linda) Cline. He was a devoted grandparent, leaving behind nine grandchildren—Reilly, Faith, Nathan, Sam, Jennifer, Ruben, Ricky, JayLee, and Anthony—as well as seven great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through the joy he brought to their lives.
Visitation will be held at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Memoria Park Cemetery.
