Jerald Lee Bates

Jerald Lee Bates, 85, of Homer, NE, passed away July 29, 2022 at a local nursing home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 2nd at 11:30 a.m. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Jerald was born on June 24, 1937 in Sioux City, IA to Ernest and Mildred (Burgett) Bates. He served in the United States Army for two years before being honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Mary Jean Bartels and to this union they were blessed with 3 children. They were married for 26 years. Jerald worked for various construction companies for many years throughout the Siouxland area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and taking road trips. He was a very social person and likes to visit with many. Jerald was a man of strong faith and attended church regularly. Those left to honor his memory include his children: Robin Bates (Leigh Anne Chambers), Omaha, NE, Bryan Bates (Patrick Meighan) Omaha, NE, Jason Bates (Angela Bates), Homer, NE; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Denny Bates, of OK. He is preceded in death by his parents; former wife Mary Jean Bates; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
