Jerold E. Hulit, 70, of Homer, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 after a long battle with dementia. A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 18, 2020 at Omaha Valley Cemetery in rural Homer, Nebraska. The family respectfully asks that attendees wear masks and social distance.
Jerold was born the son of Everett and Helen (Gross) Hulit on October 20, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended South Sioux City schools. Jerold married Vickie Frank on October 19, 1968 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City. He then entered the United States Air Force. After his military service, they made their home in South Sioux City for several years before moving to Homer, Nebraska where they had lived the past 40 years.
Jerold worked for IBP and then Siouxland Quality Meats for many years.
He enjoyed teaching hunter’s safety for many years, camping and fishing with his family, and hunting with his boys.
Jerold is survived by his wife, Vickie Hulit of Homer; children, Scott (Michelle) Hulit of Homer, Jeff Hulit of Sioux City, Jesse Norris of Homer, and Angie (Rob) Blades of Sioux City; sisters, Cathy (Tom) Kvidera of Sioux City, Joyce Hartnett of South Sioux City, and Daisy Stork of Tekamah; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Donnie, Bobby, and Pat; and sisters, Carolyn and Dorothy.
