Jerry L. Baker

Jerry L. Baker, 69, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Crossroads Evangelical Church in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Clyde Pritchett officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City.Jerry was born on March 8, 1946 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Lee and Florence (Orr) Baker. He graduated from East high School in Sioux City. He served in the Army National Guard for six years. Jerry married Carol Froid on August 29, 1981 at St. James Methodist Church in Sioux City, IA. They lived in South Sioux City. He worked for Tyson for 34 years and worked part time at Fareway for 10 years.He was a member of Crossroads Evangelical Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, holidays, watching basketball, Husker football and NASCAR, cars and monster trucks. He never knew a stranger.Survivors include his wife, Carol Baker of South Sioux City, NE; children, Jeremy (Missy) Baker and their daughters, Zandi, Brandi and Dani Jo of Sioux City, IA, Brooke (Brian) Atkins and their sons, Carson Atkins and Austin Strong of South Sioux City, NE, Wendy (John) Bauer and their children, Kayla, Gregory and John of St. Louis, MO, Traci Thomas and her daughters, Jessica and Alex of Orlando, FL; a brother, Bob (Carol Ann) Baker of South Sioux City, NE; sister-in-law, Dawn Baker of Omaha, NE; and several nieces and nephews.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Florence Baker; and a brother, Bill Baker.
