Jerry F. White, 79, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away November 24, 2021 at a local nursing home. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 30 at 11:00 A.M at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponca, NE. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be held at South Creek Cemetery in Ponca. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Jerry was born on September 14, 1942 in Ponca, NE the oldest son of Ralph and Beth (Heeney) White. He was raised in Martinsburg where he farmed with his father. He had wanted to go to Auto body School, however he was needed at the farm to help his father. Jerry was in the United States Army from 1964-1966 where he was deployed to Vietnam and served in artillery loading howitzers. When he returned he worked in the packing house and eventually started his own business in construction. Jerry loved to hunt and fish and had a true appreciation of the outdoors and nature, including conservation efforts. He was a member of American Legion Post #307 and the VFW.
Those left to honor his memory include his children: Justin White (Kelsy Ricks), Robb Sullivan, Jerri Lynn Kull; ex-wife, Jeena White, her daughter, JoAnna Gotchall; sisters: Beverly (Bill) Utecht, Bonnie (Ron) Skartvedt; brother, Don White; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
