James "Jim" R. Hoch, 68, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating and military rites conducted by the South Sioux City American Legion. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Monday.Jim was born on July 10, 1947 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Daniel and Berniece (Simmons) Hoch. He grew up in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School. He was in the U.S. Army before working as an ironworker for many years. He then worked at the Argosy Casino as a black jack dealer until his health forced him to retire.Jim was a member of the South Sioux City American Legion, The Strollers, and a thirty-three year member of AA. He enjoyed all sports, was an avid bowler, Husker and Yankee fan. He also enjoyed cars and his yearly trips to Ten Mile Lake Resort in Minnesota and his Ten Mile Lake family.Survivors include his life partner, LuAnne; three children, Donavan (Jennifer) Thompson, Heather (Corey) McFarland, Vanessa Thompson and her significant other, Toby Hanson; grandchildren, Devin, Seth and Peyton Thompson, Alyson, Camryn and Jocelyn McFarland and Alexis Hanson; siblings, Larry (Judy) Hoch, Rita Chappelear, Julie Hoch, Tom (Renee) Hoch, Patty (Scott) Beermann, Donna Hoch; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Berniece Hoch; his sister, Jeannie Hoch Hueschen; brother-in-law, Larry Chappelear; and his dog, Coco.
