Jim A. Jepsen, 63, of Hubbard, NE passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Pastor Gretchen Ritola and Father Jim Kramper officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at the funeral home at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 24, 2012 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Online condolences may be posted at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Jim was born April 14, 1949 in Wakefield, NE, the son of Albert and Virginia (Bokemper) Jepsen. He attended Emerson High School in Emerson, NE. He married Linda VanLent in 1969, then was drafted into the Army in Sept., 1969, serving in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in April, 1971. They had 2 sons and a daughter to this union. He later married the love of his life, Trudy (Kramper) Woltman in June of 1997. Jim worked for the Nebraska Dept. of Roads for the past 9 years.He felt so blessed. He loved and cherished his wife, Trudy, his 6 children, 8 grandchildren, and the time he spent with them. He also loved to fish, hunt, camp, and tinker; creating many useful tools and inventions.Jim was a visionary. If something was needed, he could envision what was needed to fix the problem and could figure out how to fix it with common items around him. His wife often fondly called him MacGyver just for that reason. In the same way though, he could set up a joke and walk away, not needing to see the result of such, due to the fact that he could envision it and was satisfied with that. He could tell a story that would hold your attention to the very end! Jim was well known among the younger crowd for always having tootsie rolls in his pocket to hand out; a tradition that he carried on from his father, Albert.He had many places of employment over the years that he loved, creating many lifelong friendships. Most recently included; working on the ranch for Gables, for the Bartels family, owning Geno's Bar & Grill in Hubbard, and for the State of Nebraska Dept. of Roads. (He often mentioned that he had the best crew in the whole state working with him.) All of them became family to him. Jim's personality gave him the ability to make work fun for everyone involved. He had the talent to make the most difficult task seem easier without those helping even realizing it.Hubbard was his home. He spent many years on the Hubbard Recreation Committee helping to make the village and its children a better place. He helped coach little league for the years that his older two sons were able to be on the teams. When the group became Hubbard Betterment he refused to be on the committee, saying it was time for other people to get involved. Yet every time there was a project he was right there to help. All he wanted in life was to spend time with his wife, Trudy and family members including his dog, and to go fishing.Survivors include his wife, Trudy Jepsen; mother, Virginia Jepsen; sons, Shawn Jepsen and special friend, Sylvia Cohn, and Chad (Kelly) Jepsen, Brandon (Jennifer) Woltman, Lee (Jenilee) Woltman, Justin Woltman; daughter, Natalie Woltman and special friend Jennings Johnson; 8 grandchildren, Britni Jepsen & fianc, Michael Stamp, Dalton Jepsen, Damon Jepsen, Delany Jepsen, Kaiden Woltman, Ainslee, Dallas and Raelee Woltman; sister, Peggy (Tom) Chapman; in-laws, Vincent and Dorothy Kramper; sisters-in-law, Bev (Tim) McNamara, Sherry (Greg) Wallin, and Brenda (Ralph) Myrthil; and many other extended family.Jim was preceded in death by his father, Albert Jepsen; and an infant daughter, Stacey Jepsen.
