John C. Atchison

June 14, 1965 — February 1, 2022

John C. Atchison, 56, of Sioux City, IA, passed away February 1, 2022.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Mater Dei Parish – Immaculate Conception Center.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery.  The family requests that masks be worn.  Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

John was born on June 14, 1965 in Oakland, CA to David and Margaret (Lawrence) Atchison.  He moved to Webster City, IA at the age of 9.  He graduated from Webster City High School.  It was in high school where he met Tammie Jorgensen.  They were united in marriage on July 11, 1987 in Marcus, IA, the couple moved to Sioux City in 1991.  John worked at numerous places throughout his lifetime.  When he was younger, he worked for Zeigler Mechanic, Frigidaire and Wilson Trailer.  Later when his sons were older, he began driving truck for Consumer Supply, Weinrich, and Anthony’s.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Church where he was an usher.  He was a proud Dad and was always there for his boys.  From working with them in the garage, to camping trips for the Scouts, to attending all of their band performances.  He enjoyed car racing, the Las Vegas Raiders and road trips with the family.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Tammie Atchison, Sioux City, IA; sons: John Atchison Jr., Sioux City, IA and Jacob Atchison, Ankeny, IA; brothers: David Jr. “Butch” (Deann) Atchison, Des Moines, IA and Paul (Amy) Atchison, Webster City, IA; sister-in-law, Karen Jorgensen and brother-in-law, Paul Jorgensen Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
