John Richard Lesline, 71, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at his residence.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
John, the son of Asa Washington and Vivian Margaret (McKee) Lesline, was born September 18, 1950 in Akron, IA. John grew up and attended school in Sioux City. He worked as a diesel/automotive mechanic and was a truck driver for many years.
On January 9, 1987, he was united in marriage to Karen R. (Hammerstrom) in Sioux City.
John’s hobbies included: mechanics (working on cars), tinkering in his garage, and watching Western movies. In addition, he enjoyed the outdoors including going on long bike rides, boating, fishing, traveling (always in a hurry), and relaxing at the cabin. Above all, he enjoyed making people laugh and giving his grandchildren giant bags of candy.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Lesline of Sioux City; children: Tammy Like (Louis) of Omaha, NE, Joey Lesline (Pam) of Sioux City, Andrea Gurnsey (Ben) of Sioux City, Kyle Lesline (Brittany) of Lawton, IA, and Ryan Lesline of Sioux City; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings: Carol Kennedy, Jim Lesline (Ruth), and Richard Lesline (Jill) all of Sioux City; father and mother-in-law, John and Patricia Hammerstrom of Sioux City; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Johnny Lesline; brother, Robert Lesline (Mary); and brother-in-law, Alan Kennedy.
