John William Schultz, of Cypress, CA, formerly of Martinsburg, NE passed was called home to our Heavenly Father on September 15, 2011 at the age of 79.Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE with Pastor Terry Wm. Kenitz of Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE officiating. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery in Ponca, NE. Condolences may be posted online at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.John was born on February 10, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa and raised in Martinsburg, Nebraska by his parents, William and Florence (Hildebrand) Schultz. After graduating from Ponca High School he married his high school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Mary Lou Bauman. The couple farmed in Martinsburg until moving to California in 1955, where they raised three daughters, Deborah, Kathy and Lois. John's career was spent working for the So. Pacific Railroad, the Metropolitan Water District of Los Angeles, and eventually owning a building management business. He and Mary Lou were happily married until she was taken from him by cancer in 2000. John was a hard working husband and father who loved and was very proud of his family.John was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Schultz. He leaves behind 2 sisters Elaine Schultz and Jeanette Scroggins, three daughters, Deborah Evans, Kathy (Dan) Autovino, and Lois (Joe) Wangsness all from California, 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
