Jolane G. Armstrong, 68, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away at her residence on Friday, March 3, 2017.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., with visitation one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, with a scriptural wake service and rosary at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE.Jolane was born on April 3, 1948 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Joe and Dolores (Wiebelhaus) Kopal. She graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City, IA. She married Philip Armstrong on November 9, 1968 in Sioux City, IA. They farmed in rural Ponca and raised four children. She also worked at Cook's Country Store in Ponca, Michael Foods in Wakefield, NE and Tyson in Dakota Dunes/Dakota City.She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE where she was on the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Ponca American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing with her Chihuahuas, watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Murder She Wrote", and cheering for her kids and grandkids at their activities. Family was the most important thing to her.Survivors include her children, Greg Armstrong of Lincoln, NE, Paula (Troy) Peters of Ainsworth, NE, Dan Armstrong of Ponca, NE and Casey Armstrong of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Takota, Laura, Luke and David; siblings, Joanne (Jon) Olson, Diane (George) Donnelly, Donna (Terry) Vitzthum, JoEllen (Garry) Slota, Joe (Shavonne) Kopal; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Armstrong in 2011; her parents, Joe and Dolores Kopal; step-father, Bill Hildahl; daughter-in-law, Carmen Armstrong; and special brother-in-law, Pat Armstrong.
