Joni was born on June 16, 1959, to Ray L. Skogen and Norma Jeanne (Jensen) Skogen in Sioux City, Iowa.

Foremost, Joni was so proud of her family. She loved her siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews, and they adored her. She enjoyed the special and unique relationships she had with each of them. Joni will always be remembered for her humor, quick wit, and caring ways. The family will share Joni stories with much love and laughter for years to come.

Joni was a 1977 graduate of East High School, Sioux City, Iowa. In 1979, she graduated from Marian Health School of Radiology Technology in Sioux City. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Grand Canyon University.

She worked in the same career her entire adult life, both in clinical and non-clinical settings. Joni cared deeply about patients' clinical experience when she worked in radiology and also when she moved to the business management side as her career advanced.

Joni loved watching sporting events, particularly football and was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye and Arizona Cardinal fan. She also enjoyed politics and could spar with the best of them.

Joni was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Norma Skogen and her uncles Bill Greulich and Keith Jensen. She is survived by her sister Kathy (Tim) McAreavey of Omaha, NE, sister Mari (Gary) Linfoot of Adams, TN, and brother David (Carey) Skogen of Milton, GA. She is also survived by nieces Miranda (Chris) Mull, Allyssa (George) Lind, Kylie (Zach) Eaton, nephews Alex (Karen) McAreavey, Hayden Linfoot, Jack (Hailey) McAreavey, and Charlie Skogen, and great-nephews Finn and Felix Mull and great-niece, Cora McAreavey. Her aunts and uncles and cousins were also very dear to her, especially her aunt, Marilyn Greulich, and cousin Kirsten (Jeff) Bordonaro and family.
