Jose “La Diva” R. Garcia-Llamas, 44, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2021, at a local hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, with visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. 

Jose was born January 16, 1977, in San Julian, Jalisco in Mexico; the son of Raul Garcia-Munoz and Maria Llamas de Garcia. He moved to Sioux City in 1994. He worked at Tyson Foods for 26 years in various positions. Jose was a very happy person. He enjoyed listening to Jenny Rivera and participating in Drag Queen Festivals. He won the title “Sioux City Miss Gay Latina” in 2019. He also participated in and all “Sioux City Divas Latinas” events as an original Diva where he impersonated Jenny Rivera and Thalia.  He was known by his family and friends as “La Diva.”

Jose is survived by his mother, Maria Llamas De Garcia of Sioux City, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

 

José “La Diva” R. García-Llamas, 44, de Sioux City, falleció el viernes 5 de noviembre de 2021 en un hospital local.

El servicio funeral se llevará a cabo a las 6:00 p.m. el Miércoles 10 de Noviembre, 2021, con visitación a partir de las 4:00 p.m. hasta las 8:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Meyer Brothers.

José nació el 16 de enero de 1977 en San Julián, Jalisco en México; hijo de Raúl García-Muñoz y María Llamas de García. En 1994 se mudó a Sioux City . Trabajó en Tyson Foods durante 26 años en diferentes posiciones de trabajo.  José era una persona muy feliz.  Disfrutaba escuchando a Jenny Rivera y participando en Festivales de Drag Queen. Ganó el título de “Sioux City Miss Gay Latina” en el 2019. También participó en todos los eventos de “Sioux City Divas Latinas” como una Diva original donde personificó a Jenny Rivera y Thalía. Su familia y amigos lo conocían como "La Diva".

A José le sobreviven su madre, María Llamas De García de Sioux City, y muchos amigos y amigas.

Le precedieron en la muerte su padre y sus abuelos.
