 Jose Antonio Munguia Gaitan, known to most as Tony or Toño, passed away at his home on January 12, 2025. 

 Tony was born on November 13, 1976, to Gabriel Munguia Herrera and Maria Felicitas Gaitan Moreno in Colima, Mexico. He grew up admiring his parents who were active in their community always caring for others. 

 In 2001, Tony moved to the United States in hopes for a better life for himself and to be able to better help his family back home. He moved to California and then Utah and traveled the US opening up restaurants for Mr. Juan and his franchise, eventually landing in Sioux City, Iowa, where he met his wife Katie Zweep. Tony and Katie married on May 31, 2012, at Grandview Park, and built a life together in Sioux City near her family. Together they lived with and loved their two black and white fur-babies, Ella and Emma.

 Tony enjoyed most recently working at Sioux Laundry for Tim and Matt Granstrom. He also considered his coworkers an extension of his family.

 Tony was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father Gabriel. He is survived by his wife Katie, mother Maria, sister Ana, brother Jorge, father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Linda, sister-in-law and her husband Amanda and Dennis, brother-in-law James Zweep, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. He made time for everyone and cared about so many people and their families. He will be missed by so many and live in our hearts and memories always.


José Antonio Munguía Gaitán, conocido por muchos como Tony o Toño, falleció en su casa el 12 de enero de 2025. 

Tony nació el 13 de noviembre de 1976, hijo de Gabriel Munguía Herrera y María Felicitas Gaitán Moreno en Colima, México. Creció admirando a sus padres, quienes eran activos en su comunidad y siempre se preocupaban por los demás. 

En 2001, Tony se mudó a los Estados Unidos con la esperanza de tener una vida mejor y poder ayudar mejor a su familia en casa. Se mudó a California y luego a Utah y viajó por los EE. UU. abriendo restaurantes para el Sr. Juan y su franquicia, y finalmente aterrizó en Sioux City, Iowa, donde conoció a su esposa Katie Zweep. Tony y Katie se casaron el 31 de mayo de 2012 en Grandview Park y construyeron una vida juntos en Sioux City cerca de su familia. Juntos vivían y amaban a sus dos bebés peludos blancos y negros, Ella y Emma.

Tony disfrutó trabajando recientemente en Sioux Laundry para Tim y Matt Granstrom. También consideraba a sus compañeros de trabajo una extensión de su familia.

Tony era un amoroso esposo, hijo, hermano, tío, primo, sobrino y amigo. Le precedieron en la muerte su padre Gabriel. Le sobreviven su esposa Katie, su madre María, su hermana Ana, su hermano Jorge, su suegro y suegra John y Linda, su cuñada y su esposo Amanda y Dennis, su cuñado James. Zweep, sobrinas, sobrinos y muchos amigos cercanos. Dedicó tiempo a todos y se preocupó por muchas personas y sus familias. Muchos lo extrañaremos y siempre vivirá en nuestros corazones y recuerdos.
