Joseph A. "Joe" Fredricksen, 79, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his residence.Memorial services will be at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.Joe was born on February 16, 1939 in Yankton, SD, the son of Clarence and Vernice (Weed) Fredricksen. He attended East High School in Sioux City, IA. He worked as a mechanic for Kidder- Knoepfler in Sioux City. Joe married Diane Cooley in 1959 in Sioux City, IA. They lived in Sioux City and were blessed with 6 children. He also worked for Metz Baking Company, retiring in 1997. He moved to South Sioux City. Joe and Karolyn Smith were married on December 31, 1986 in Elk Point, SD.He loved collectible and antique cars, and tinkering on his 1950 Chrysler Royal, for which he earned many first place trophies at car shows. He also enjoyed having lunch and listening to music at the South Sioux City Senior Center.Survivors include his wife, Karolyn Fredricksen; children, Thomas, Timothy (Mary), Theodore, Tamie and Teresa Fredricksen and Terri (Todd) Karr; grandchildren, TJ Fredricksen, Theresa (Mike) Bigge, Joe Fredricksen, Chad (Shawleen) Fredricksen, Travis (Jasmine) Gartner, Brianna Geesaman, Christopher Schaaf, George Hebert, Shelby, Amber and Austin Karr; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Marjory (Don) Zapotocky; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Vernice Fredricksen; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Judy) Fredricksen.
