Joseph C. Polley

February 21, 1939 — July 10, 2021

Joseph C. Polley, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Sioux City, IA, passed away quietly in his home on July 10, 2021 at the age of 82.  A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, August 22 from 11:00-2:00 P.M. at the Oscar Carl Vineyard, 1473 Buchanan Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Joseph was the eldest of 4 children and was born on February 21, 1939 in Sioux City to Charles Polley and Monica (Jonas) Polley.  He graduated from Heelan High School in 1957 and then enlisted in the Navy in December 1957.  He served aboard the USS Bremerton and was honorably discharged in September 1962.  He married Sharon Rethwisch on September 17, 1994 and they resided in Norfolk, NE where he managed Kings Entertainment Center until retiring and moving to Arizona in 2003.  Joseph had a passion for golfing, bowling, and socializing with his many friends.  Joseph and Sharon enjoyed traveling in their later years after retirement.

Joseph is survived by his wife Sharon; brother, George Polley, sister, Julie (Ray) Freese; sisters-in-law: Carol (Larry) LaCroix, Cheryl (John) Horan; brother-in-law: Leon (Shannon) Leu; sons: Joe M. (Debbie) Polley, Greg (Carla) Polley, Todd Polley, Tim Polley, Rick (Mary) Rethwisch; daughters: Lynn Clark and Becky Polley.  He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosemary Toresdahl; brother-in-law, Larry Mullins; sister-in-law, Karen Polley; and a niece, Kristen Polley.
