Josephine "JoAnne" Ann McGinty

Josephine Ann "JoAnne" McGinty, 82, of South Sioux City, passed away in her home, surrounded by family on February 10, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE with Father Stanislaus Kostka Maria Balucanag, OATH officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00pm on Sunday, February 14th, 2016, with a scriptural wake service at 7:00pm at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Josephine's life. While her talent did not spill over in to her vocals, she always sang from the heart. She was an active member of the South Sioux City Legion of Mary, where her love for the Blessed Mother ever grew. Everyone understood that her prayer time was important to her and was never to be interrupted. Josephine was the heart of her family and was always there to give her love and support. While she loved her children, she especially loved her grandchildren and blessed them often with wonderful, meandering stories. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald McGinty; son, Kelly McGinty; mother, Agnes Kneifl-Long; father, Nick Kneifl, Sr.; brothers, Don Kneifl and Nick Kneifl, Jr.; and sister Shirley Hoffert. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Martin and Peggy McGinty; sons, Patrick, Casey and Christopher McGinty; her 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters, Linda Deabler, Betty Pettit, Tony Kneifl, Mary Jo Jones, Carol Minor, Terry Kneifl, Jeanne Fuscher and Bobby Kneifl.
