Juanita Belle "Slim" Posey

   Juanita Belle “Slim” Posey, 95 of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be prior to the Service Wednesday, in Merrill-Stanton Township Cemetery in rural Merrill, Iowa. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

   Juanita was born on August 15, 1925 on the Schultz family farm in rural Merrill, Iowa, to George and Bessie (Robbins) Schultz. She graduated from LeMars High School in May, 1945. After high school she managed the Plymouth Co-Op Oil Station, was a clerk typist for the FBI in Virginia and became the Secretary to the Purchasing Agent for the City of Sioux City.

   On August 20, 1955 she married Everett W. Posey at the Merrill Stanton Evangelical United Brethren Church. She worked until their daughter, Marilyn, was born. Juanita became a stay-at-home mom for several years until she became an accounts payable clerk for the Walter J. Boyle family. She retired from the Boyle Offices in 1988 after 20 years of service.

   In her free time, Juanita volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City where she was a member of United Methodist Women and the Missions Committee. The Missions Committee supported many missions including Heifer Project, missionaries in service and the Thanksgiving In Gathering. She was the Queen Mother of the Cardinal Toppers Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed golf with the Floyd Park Ladies.

   Juanita was known for her Hershey Syrup Brownies, baked ribs with homemade barbecue sauce and awesome gravy for her fried chicken. She loved attending activities of her grandsons and celebrated every occasion she could.

   Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Marilyn Turner of Sioux City; two grandsons: James Turner of Holstein, Iowa; and Nick & Katie Turner of Apple Valley, Minnesota; great grandchildren Lennon Turner and Benson Turner of Apple Valley; a sister-in-law Ardythe Schultz of LeMars; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Posey on July 21, 2013; her parents; her son-in-law Curt Turner; all her siblings and their spouses as well as all her in laws and their spouses; and several nieces and nephews.
