Julia Hinz, 81 of rural Waterbury, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, June 08, 2008 at the Heritage Care Center in Emerson, Nebraska, after a brief illness.Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home, 1000 W. 29th Street, Suite 110, South Sioux City, Nebraska, with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, Nebraska. Julia was born January 17, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles H. and Agnes (Nellie) (Agersborg) Bartels. In her younger years, she was a 4-H member and especially enjoyed riding horses. She graduated from Homer High School in 1944 and attended Morningside and Wayne State Colleges. She taught in rural schools until she married Wilbur Hinz on June 14, 1952 in Nashua, Iowa. She enjoyed working side by side with Wilbur on their farm.She was baptized, comfirmed and a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa.Survivors include her husband, Wilbur; a nephew, Bryson Bartels of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Arlene Lindstrom of Nixa, Missouri, Selma (Mel) Schrader of Mapleton, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Virgil (Grace) Hinz and Raymond (Doris) Hinz, all of Newcastle, Nebraska, Milo (Phyllis) Birkley of Hubbard, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and grand-nephews. Even though they had no children of their own, they enjoyed indulging and spoiling others children.Julia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Ernest Bartels; sisters-in-law Lucille (Hinz) Birkley and Patty (Rasmussen) Hinz.Casket bearers are Dennis Livermore, Steve Lange, LeRoy Koster, Greg Utech, Calvin Hansen and Gordon Hansen. Honorary casket bearers are Charlie Berg, Elmer Hansen and Duane Hollman.
