Julia Estela Tovar

Julia Estela Tovar, devoted Jehovah’s Witness, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the age of 83. She was born to Margarito Trochez and Dolores Guzmán on May 4, 1939, in Santa Barbara, Honduras.

She was an educator in Honduras before immigrating to the United States where she met her spouse, Felipe Tovar. They were married in 1977 and made Sioux City their home. Julia spent much time at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall and was devoted to respectfully sharing her faith and kind heart. 

Aside from volunteering with her fellow Witnesses, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her five children, Juan Ortega, Delsy Ortega, Walter Ortega (married to Rosa María Ambriz Ramos), Ondina Ortega (married to Onyx Paredes), and Felipe Tovar (married to Jade Silva Tovar). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, parents and several siblings.

A Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd. in Sioux City. Services will be held at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be in Logan Park Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be directed to the family, for a future memorial that will be created in Julia’s honor. Julia Estela Tovar, dedicada Testigo de Jehová, madre, hermana, abuela, y amiga, falleció el Domingo, 19 de Junio de 2022, tenía 83 años de edad. Ella nació en Santa Barbara, Honduras, a los padres Margarito Trochez y Dolores Guzmán el 4 de Mayo de 1939.

Ella era maestra en Honduras antes de llegar a los Estados Unidos, donde conoció a su marido, Felipe Tovar. Ellos se casaron en 1977 e hicieron su hogar en Sioux City.  Julia pasó mucho tiempo en el Salón del Reino de los Testigos de Jehová y fue dedicada a compartir su fe con un buen corazón. 

Aparte de trabajar como voluntaria con sus hermanos del testigo, le encantaba la jardinería, viajar, y pasar tiempo con su familia.

Le sobreviven cinco hijos, Juan Ortega, Delsy Ortega, Walter Ortega (esposa, Rosa María Ambriz Ramos), Ondina Ortega (esposo, Onyx Paredes), y Felipe Tovar (esposa, Jade Silva Tovar). También le sobreviven sus doce nietos. Julia le precedió en la muerte por su marido, padres, y varios hermanos.

El velorio será el viernes 8 de julio en la funeraria Meyers Brothers de 4 a 7 p.m. Los servicios están en el Salón del Reino de los Testigos de Jehová el Sábado, 9 de Julio, 2022, a las 4:00 p.m. La internación será en el Cementerio de Logan Park a las 1:30 p.m. La familia establecería un fondo conmemorativo para Julia.
