Karen Lea Adams

Karen Lea Adams, 76, of Sioux City, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, gracefully departed this world on Monday, January 27, 2025, at a local care center, surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be from 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Dakota City Fire Hall, located at 208 S. 21st St., Dakota City, NE 68731. Friends and family are invited to join together to honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Karen.

She was born on December 9, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Sverre and Lena (Simon) Peterson. She attended Central High School. Karen dedicated many years of her life to working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where her compassion and commitment to caring for others made a profound impact.

Though she worked diligently, Karen always made time for the things that brought her joy. She had a deep love for music, with a particular fondness for the timeless tunes of Elvis Presley. In her leisure, she found serenity in crocheting and was known as an avid bowler who could light up any competition with her spirited energy. The outdoors called to Karen, and riding in the "Blazer" was a particular pastime that brought her a sense of freedom. Family meant the world to Karen; she relished attending her grandchildren's events, where her heart swelled with pride and joy.

Karen is survived by her beloved children: Lonnie (Jamie) Adams of Westfield, IA, Brenda (Chris) McNear of Dakota City, NE, and Becky Archer, along with her significant other, Don Woodard, of Merrill, IA. Her legacy continues through her seven adoring grandchildren: Rachael, Brayden, Laila, Sylar, Bryston, Easton, and Olyver, each carrying forward the warmth and light that she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sverre and Lena Peterson, as well as her beloved sisters, Phyllis and Shirley, and her brother, Vernon.
