Karin K. Maass

Karin K. Maass of Sioux City, IA passed away on May 16, 2021.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  Karin was born July 13, 1948 in Sioux City, IA to Phillip and Dorothy (Funkhouser) Johnson.

Karin grew up in Sioux City and taught in the Sioux City Community School System for 27 years at Grant, Longfellow, Washington and North Middle.  She married Dr. Ralph Maass in 1984, to this union, one son, Phillip, was born.  Phillip, wife Bekka, and their four children reside in Grimes, Iowa.

Karin graduated from Briar Cliff University, with a BS in Psychology and minor in Education and earned a Masters in Education from the University of South Dakota.

Karin is survived by her son, Phillip, his wife Bekka, her granddaughters Bailee, Aubrie, Calla and her grandson Carson.  Her brother Douglas (Erlinda) Johnson of Mesa, AZ and her sister Phyllis (Jack) Conner of Dakota Dunes, SD (the two life-long, best friends a girl could ever have).  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

At her request, Karin was cremated. There will be no funeral.  Her cremains will join that of her mother at Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur, NE.
