Kathryn Ann Schlueter, 59, of Dakota City, Nebraska passed away on Friday morning, November 29, 2019. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Kathryn was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 28, 1960 to Kenneth and Marian Schlueter. She grew up and attended school in Dakota City. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1979. In 1984, she coached softball for the IBP Dakota Softball team. After high school she took classes at Wayne State College, Western Iowa Tech Community College, and Little Priest Tribal College for a degree in teaching, as well as her certification in CNA.
While attending her college classes, she worked at the St. Luke’s hospital in the Birth Center. After her time in the medical field, she put her teaching certification to use. She worked at Wee Care daycare, Angel House daycare, and Headstart in Sergeant Bluffs. After working with children, she then went to go work for the elderly. She worked at Floyd House, Brickford, and Whispering Creek. She then went to work for MidStep services to help with the disabled. While working there she was also working at Staples.
She was a member of the Church of all Nations. She loved cooking, baking, camping, reading, and, if you couldn’t already tell, working… a lot. After living in Dakota City for majority of her life, she moved to Sioux City in 2016.
Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Schlueter of Sioux City, Iowa; 2 brothers Kenneth W. Schlueter of Royal, Nebraska and Larry Schlueter of Missouri; and her Sister-in-law Geralyn Schlueter and her niece Charlotte Schlueter in the Philippines.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother, Donald Schlueter.
