Kathryne A. Bliven

Kathryne Bliven, 90, of Sioux City, IA, passed away August 31, 2021, surrounded by her family at a local nursing home.  A funeral service will be held Friday, September 3 at 12:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Kathryne was born on July 19, 1931 in Sioux City to Leslie and Myrtle Reese.  She grew up in Sioux City and was united in marriage to Ned Bliven on June 4, 1949, he preceded her in death in 1980.  Kathryne enjoyed fishing with her husband and family, playing cards, bingo, and watching golf and football.  She worked for many years at Younkers downtown, then went on to work in the customer service department of the Southern Hills Mall.  She was a dedicated member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1959.  Kathryne enjoyed spending time with her family, especially cooking them her famous macaroni and cheese.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons: Ken (Cathy) Bliven, Bellevue, NE, Larry (Patty) Bliven, Sioux City, IA; grandchildren: Adam (Becky) Bliven, Dustin (Jen) Bliven, Dawn (Eric) Niedergeses, Aleshia (Andrew) Kellen, Josh (Kristin) Bliven, Jennifer (Tom) Holladay; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
