Kenneth L. Ackerman, 83, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his residence.
Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Morningside Lutheran Church with Reverend Tom LoVan and Reverend Noah Luppert officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30-5:00 P.M. at the church. Private graveside services will be at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, NE. Kenneth was born March 11, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Tom and Elaine (Prochaska) Ackerman. Kenneth married Barbara Jane Brunell on June 25, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born. Barbara preceded Kenneth in death on June 4, 2010 in Sioux City.
In 1958, Kenneth started his own trucking business and continued loving the trucking career until retiring and letting his son’s take over the business in 2000. Even after retirement, Kenneth stayed passionate about trucking and traveling and gathering with friends to visit, especially at Johnnie Mars Family Restaurant. Kenneth was a very active man in this community and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his son: Brock (Shelly) Ackerman, Kory (Missy), and daughter Kyle (Matt) Tipton all of Sioux City; grandchildren: Adam (Ashtyn) Ackerman, Megan Ackerman, and Ethan Tipton.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, and a sister Karen.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be given to the Sioux City Symphony or the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
