Kenneth A. Adair, Sr. 76, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at his residence, while surrounded by his family.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Glad Tidings Light House in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Decatur Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur, NE. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 beginning at 5:00 P.M, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Kenneth was born on July 19, 1938 in Macy, NE, the son of Marvin and Thelma (Cain) Adair. He attended school in Decatur, NE. He entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 16, serving three terms in Vietnam and many other places, including The Bay of Pigs. While in the Navy, he earned 13 medals. His distinguished naval career lasted for 20 years. Kenneth married Patricia Cain on February 1, 1978 in Gila, AZ. Upon retirement from the Navy, he worked at various jobs, including construction, the railroad and maintenance. He was a very hard worker. He accepted the Lord into his life at the age of 42 and served the Lord the rest of his life, serving as a deacon in his churches, and going on many mission trips. Kenneth was a member of Glad Tidings Light House in South Sioux City, NE.He loved to fish, play cards and spend time with his family.Survivors include his wife, Patricia Adair of Sioux City, IA; sons, Kenneth, Jr. and his wife, Lari Adair, Marvin John and his wife, JoDee Adair, Daniel Adair and girlfriend, Jane Spencer, all of Sioux City, IA; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Adair of Sergeant Bluff, IA; children, Deborah and her husband, Brian Solt of Charlottesville, VA, Nick and his wife, Kristen Wilen of Talco, TX, and Bobbi Wilen and her special friend, Derick Ball of Lewisville, TX; a brother, William and his wife, Becky Adair of MO; and he was greatly loved by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Inger Adair and Thelma and "Pops" Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Peter Block; and a brother, Jerry Adair.
