Kenneth M. Barker, 59, of Ceresco, Nebraska, formerly of South Sioux City, died May 5, 2017 at his home in Ceresco. Funeral services will be 1:00pm on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery in Homer, NE. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, May 11, with family present 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Kenny was born December 23, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth G. and JoAnne (Davis) Barker. He grew up in South Sioux, graduating from South Sioux City High School. He continued his education and received an Associate's Degree in Electronics and Auto body from Western Iowa Tech. Kenny married Laura Jackson June 16, 1984. Together the couple lived in Colorado, Dakota City, South Sioux, Lincoln and finally Ceresco. Kenny worked for over 27 years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, his guitar and music.Survivors include his wife, Laura Barker of Ceresco, NE; 2 children, Kaitlyn Barker of Ceresco, NE and Ryan Barker of Omaha, NE; his mother, JoAnne Blake; 9 siblings, Judy Neal, Jean (Steve) Kelly, Jerry Barker, Joe (Lynn) Barker, Mary Barker (Ed Miller), Linda Barker, Ronnie (Annie) Blake, John Bunning and Tammy (Jim) Symons. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; an infant sister, Mary; and an infant brother, Kenneth. Only the good die young.
