Kenneth F. Schlueter, 78, of Dakota City, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska with Pastor Don Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Ewing Cemetery in Ewing, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Kenneth was born in rural Stanton, Nebraska on July 22, 1931 to Esther (Goetsch) and Otto Schlueter. He grew up in the Stanton area and graduated from Stanton High School in 1949. After high school he entered the Army, and served until he was honorably discharged on December 29, 1953. He married Marian Sievers on June 3, 1956 at Madison, Nebraska. The couple farmed before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. Kenneth worked for many years on missile sites before moving to Dakota City, where he worked at IBP, and he worked part time as a salesman for Jim Hawk Truck Trailers.He was a member of the Church of All Nations, South Sioux City American Legion, and the Iowa Forresters.He enjoyed doing his favorite activities including fishing, camping, gardening, building and watching Husker football with his granddaughter, Melinda.Survivors include his wife, Marian, 3 sons, Kenneth W. Schlueter of Royal, Nebraska, Donald L. Schlueter of Afghanistan, and his wife Geralyn of the Phillipines, and Larry G. Schlueter of Mansfield, Tennessee; 1 daughter, Kathryn A. Schlueter of Dakota City, Nebraska; and 2 grandchildren, Melinda and Charlotte Schlueter.Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law; mother-in-law; 1 sister; and 1 brother-in-law.
