Kenneth J. Uhl, 81, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at his residence. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2020 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Kenneth was born on October 7, 1938 in Sioux City, son of Leo and Evelyn (Morhauser) Uhl. He attended grade school at Grant Elementary and St. Joseph Elementary Schools, and moved on to Heelan High School until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1960. He went through basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Kansas, and went on to Artillery Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was a member of the 7th Calvary, and served in the Korean War from 1960 until he was honorably discharged in 1963.
On April 19, 1967 he married Sally Brewer in South Sioux City, by the Justice of the Peace. The two made their home in Sioux City. Kenneth worked various years in industries including construction, at Boyer’s Provisions, and ultimately starting his own company: Uhl Lawn Services.
Kenneth was a member of the NRA and spent time at Dave’s Shooting Range.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Uhl of Sioux City; three sons: James Uhl and Monica Sacramento of Sioux City; Steven Uhl of Burbank, CA; and Christopher Uhl and Ursula Maslonka of Sioux City; grandson, Hunter Uhl of Sioux City as well as other grandchildren; brothers: Arvin Uhl (Donna); Larry Uhl (Sylvia); and Tom Uhl (Kathy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Evelyn.
