Kevin R. "Nard" Harder, 57 of Dakota City, died Monday, February 13 , 2017 at a Rochester, Minnesota hospital. Services will be 10:30 Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca. Visitation will begin Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5:00 with a PrayerService at 7:00 all at the Church. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery inPonca. Arrangements are with Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Kevin "Nard" was born September 26 , 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Raymond and Betty (Sherman) Harder Jr. He was raised in Ponca, graduating from Ponca High School in 1977. During his high school years he worked at Ponca State Park and was a lifeguard. Nard married Teri Hamar May 5, 1979 at Salem Lutheran Church (and they remain deeply in love to this day). Together they made their home near Dakota City, Nebraska. For the last 40 years Nard worked for Cooper's Feed Mill, which later became Master Mix, and finally ADM Nutrition.He was a member and past council member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, Highland Oaks Golf Course and it's board and Salem Lutheran Cemetery Board. Nard's grandchildren were his hobby. He also enjoyed golfing, motorcycling, fishing and was a big Nebraska fan. Nard also spent time coaching sports when his children were younger. Survivors include his wife, Teri Harder of Dakota City, NE; two children, Nikki(Josh) Fordyce of Sioux City, IA. and Daniel (Kasey) Harder of Sioux City, IA; sixgrandchildren, Jayli, Joey, Jace, Jahnna, Kai and Lily; mother, Betty Stark ofPonca, NE; 8 siblings, Vivian (Alan) Kunkel of Correctionville, IA., Tom (Carlene)Stark of Ponca, NE, Virginia (Terry) Poulsen of Hornick, IA, Kathy Thompson ofNorth Sioux City, SD, Joni (Don) Merical of Jackson, NE, Cheryl (Darrell) Rolandof Ponca, NE, Tony (Anne) Stark of Ponca, NE, and Tammy (Kenton) Book of Ponca, NE; brother-in-law, Mark Hughes of Ponca, NE; his father-in-law and mother in-law, Clair and Vera Hamar of Jackson; brothers-in-law, Justin (Jamie) Hamar of Waterbury, NE and Jay (Laurie) Hamar of Mitchell, SD; nieces, nephews, many very close and special friends. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Raymond Harder Jr. and Ralph Stark; and a sister, Deanna Hughes. Nard's family would prefer casual dress for the service.
