Kim L. Buckholtz-Free, 64, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away August 23, 2022 at a local hospital. No services are planned at this time. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Kim was born on November 12, 1957 in Sioux City, IA to Harland and Leah
(Church) Minscer. She graduated from North High School and went on to attend
Morningside College, where she took classes for social work. Kim worked at
several places throughout her life, she managed the restaurant and bar at
Winnavegas for 11 years. She also worked at Sparky’s Gas Station in Onawa, IA for
8 years. Kim made friends wherever she went, she loved people and animals. She
stayed close with her lifelong friends from grade school and junior high school,
and would meet up with them several times a year.
She was a very talented artist; her specialty was painting fairies and flowers. She
enjoyed her daily walks, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Isabelle. She was in love with Willie Nelson and John Prine’s music all of her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her parents, Harland and Leah Minscer;
sisters: Debra Bliven and Renee Minscer; sons: Jeremy (Robin) Buckholtz, Corey
(Elena) Buckholtz, grandchildren: Katie Johnson, DJ Buckholtz, Corey Jay
Buckholtz, Emily (Carson) Strom, Jacob Buckholtz, Megan Buckholtz, Kenzie
Buckholtz, Ben Buckholtz, Joslyn Morris, Samantha (Spencer) Wright, and Mason
Buckholtz, Chelsi and Jacob Foreman; great-grandchildren: Rias, Ahsyah, and
Aurora Johnson, Everly Strom, Alyce Wright; extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jason Buckholtz and brothers: Harland
“Sonny” Minscer and Scott Minscer, ex-husband and friend Gary Buckholtz.
