Kristi L. Barbee

Kristi L. Barbee, 63, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at a care facility in Omaha, NE following a 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 3, 2021 with a visitation from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., family present 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Kristi was born March 19, 1958 in Sioux City, the daughter of Alvin and Evelyn (Preston) Saltzgiver. She was raised in South Sioux City, NE. On December 31, 1981, she married Gary Barbee in Elk Point, SD. The family of four lived in Sioux City and Salix, IA. Gary preceded Kristi in death on January 12, 2010. Kristi worked at Walmart for 20 years. She lived in Omaha for the last 3 years.

Kristi attended St. Patrick’s Church of Elkhorn, NE at Marquis Place, the care facility she resided at. She was a social person that enjoyed being on the go. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan and had plenty of blue to prove it. She liked to be outdoors whenever she could. She had an interest in quilting and made plenty of blankets. She really enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory are her son, Jason (Mickie) Saltzgiver of Montana; daughter Stacy (Brent) Heavican of Omaha; brother Daryle (Denise) Saltzgiver of South Sioux City; sister Kim Byrne of Sioux City; nine grandchildren: Karissa Heavican, Treyton Heavican, Carter Heavican, Kody Saltzgiver, Kylee Saltzgiver, Evelyn Saltzgiver, Grant Saltzgiver, Lily Saltzgiver, and August Saltzgiver.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Barbee, mother Evelyn Schwarte, father Alvin Saltzgiver, and step-father Francis Schwarte.
