L. Veronica Leis

Leila Veronica Leis, 76 of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at a Sioux City nursing facility.  Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Father Andrew Galles officiating.  Visitation, with the family present, will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in rural South Sioux City, Nebraska.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Veronica was born on November 18, 1944 in Sioux City to Frank J. and Colletta (Weber) Leis.  She grew up on a farm in-between Waterbury and Allen, Nebraska.  She attended, and graduated from Ponca High School.  Veronica worked, and retired from, Hobart as an office manager.

Veronica loved crafting and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed time shared with her nieces and nephews, and considered them “her kids”. 

Veronica is survived by her sister Kathryn Borrall of Sioux City; nephews Jeff Borrall of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chad Borrall of Sioux City, and Mike (Candace) Borrall of Sioux City; nieces Dr. Mindee (Eric) Swanson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Patti (Jon) Bopp of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-nephews Jacob Borrall and Sullivan Swanson; great-nieces Cara Mc Ewan, Addie Borrall, Lauren Bopp, and Eleanor Swanson; great-great-nephew Carson Mc Ewan; great-great-niece Caylee Mc Ewan; life-long friends Gayle Nelson of Sioux City, and Arlene Nelson of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents.
