Larry D. Hoch, 75, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at a local hospital.Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.Larry was born December 27, 1942 in Emerson, NE, the son of Daniel and Berniece (Simmons) Hoch. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1961. Larry married his high school sweetheart, Judy Hirsch on October 26, 1963 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. They were blessed with four sons and a daughter. Larry and Judy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013. He worked for the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad for 41 years.He loved watching his sons and grandsons play baseball, and enjoyed family vacations and boating at Ten Mile Resort in Minnesota for many years. He was an avid bowler and bowled a 300 game. Larry was a fan and contributor of the Sioux City Stampede football team, and was named "1996 Fan of the Year" by the Morningside College baseball team. He was also a diehard Husker and Cub fan.Survivors include his wife, Judy Hoch; sons, Jeff (Bev) Hoch, Scott Hoch, Brad (Lisa) Hoch, Cory (Michelle) Hoch; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rita Chappelear, Julie Hoch, Tom (Renee) Hoch, Patty (Scott) Beermann and Donna Hoch; his brother, Jim's longtime partner, Luanne Tieck; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Berniece Hoch; a daughter, Lori Lynn Hoch; brother, Jim Hoch; sister, Jeanne Hueschen; and brother-in-law, Larry Chappelear.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designations to be made at a later time.
