Larry L. Horsley, Jr.

January 25, 1964 — October 8, 2020

Larry Lowell Horsley, Jr., a loving husband, devoted father, and jubilant grandfather, departed from this world Thursday, October 8th 2020, in Sioux City, IA at the age of 56 at a local hospital.  Visitation, with family present, will be today, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Born in Sioux City, IA on January 25th, 1964 to Larry Horsley, Sr. And Barbara (Dwyer) Horsley. Larry attended school in Sioux City at Bishop Heelan High School. He married Karen Hallbauer on October 24th, 1986.

Larry and Karen raised five children; Sons, Christopher, Blake, Zachary, and Joshua; and a daughter, Jessica. Larry began his IT career with Gateway in Sioux City, where he worked alongside his loving wife for many years. After parting ways with Gateway Computers, Larry undertook multiple IT odd-jobs over the remaining years of his life.

Larry was a devoted husband, he was a loving and engaged father, and recently became an extraordinary grandfather. He loved computers and anything to do with them. He enjoyed playing video games with his children. He was a well-versed, master craftsman of the “Dad Joke”. He always had words of wisdom to offer – even as a man of very few words. Larry had a tendency to go above-and-beyond for anyone whom he saw needing his assistance, even if that meant forgoing his own comfort and well-being. He was a purveyor of classic rock and a connoisseur of campy movies. It could be said that Larry enjoyed the simpler things in life; such as coffee and comfortable sneakers, being a father, and a grandfather, and the companionship of his faithful pets. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and his ability to turn a phrase. He will be live on in our hearts and memories as a friend, a father, a husband, a grandpa, a brother, an uncle, and a genuinely good, kind-hearted person.

Larry was preceded in death by his father; Larry Horsley, Sr., his mother; Barbara Horsley, his son; Christopher, his son; Blake, and his faithful, four-legged companion; Charles.
