Larry L. Lund, 75, of rural Ponca passed away after a short illness on October 16, 2009.Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Neal Anthony officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, with military rites conducted by the Ponca American Legion Post 117. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Larry was born on January 19, 1934 in Newcastle, Nebraska, the son of Maurice and Mabel (Birkley) Lund. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1952 and served two years in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Sioux City Barber College in Sioux City, Iowa. He married Donna Kayl in December, 1962 in Ponca. Larry owned barber shops in Wakefield and Dakota City, Nebraska. He worked at Sioux Tools before moving to a farm in rural Ponca in 1976.He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca. Survivors include his wife, Donna of Ponca; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Andy Smith and granddaughters, Rhiannon and Olivia of Aurora, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanine and Darin Payne and grandsons, Jacob, Michael, Alec and Adam of Aurora Colorado; sister, Doris Ehle of Tilden, Nebraska; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Marcy Lund of Vermillion, South Dakota and Ray and Julie Lund of LaCygne, Kansas; and all of his nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Lillian Lund.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Salem Lutheran Church, or St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, both in Ponca.
