Larry D. Pojar, 63 of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at his residence while surrounded by his family.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery in rural Homer, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the funeral home.Larry was born in Sioux City, IA on January 12, 1952 to Herman and Rose (Kucera) Pojar and was the youngest of sixteen children. He was raised in a two bedroom home at the north end of South Sioux City and spoke very fondly of this time in his life. Larry married Cindy Coan on November 26, 1976 and to this union they had three children Heidi, Troy and Bryce. He worked with his brother, Tom Pojar, on communication towers, traveling extensively. He continued working on towers for various companies for thirty-two years and took great pride in providing for his family. In 2005 Larry became a member of the Local 21 Iron Workers Union and began working for his brother Tom, owner of Skidmore Crane Rental, a subcontractor solely at Cargill. He completed his career working side by side with his brother, Tom and his son, Bryce.Larry loved spending time with his family and was a proud grandpa to six grandchildren, who he enjoyed immensely. He was also a big fan of horse racing and visited the Kentucky Derby several years ago. Woodworking and carpentry were his passion and he passed this talent along to his son Bryce. Larry was a great fisherman and had become an expert at cooking fish, he passed this love of fishing onto his son Troy. Larry and Cindy traveled many times to Texas to visit their daughter, Heidi and her family, with the most recent trip being last year for the graduation of their oldest grandchild.Survivors include his wife, Cindy of South Sioux City, NE; one daughter, Heidi (Eddie) Cano of Pflugerville, TX; two sons, Troy (Jessica) Pojar of Jackson, NE and Bryce Pojar of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren, Kasia and Brandon Cano, Gage and Peyton Pojar and Gracie Mae and Bryar Pojar; three brothers, Duane (Dona Rae) Pojar of Waubay, SD, Pat Pojar and Tom (Lisa) Pojar of South Sioux City, NE; five sisters, Angie (Bill) Bradish of South Sioux City, NE, Marguerite (Cheryl) Roberts of Pender, NE, Vada Coan and Charlyne Snyder of South Sioux City, NE and Carolyn (Daniel) Angerman of Silt, CO.Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rose Pojar; five brothers, Leo, John, Bob (Edna), Wally and Virgil Pojar; two sisters, Adeline Evens and Lois Leuenhagen; brother-in-law, John Coan; and his special fishing buddy and brother-in-law, Rod Snyder.
