Larry Lee Young

Larry Lee Young, 79 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at a local hospital from End Stage COPD, he was comforted by family. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with visitation, including family, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Memorials may be offered to the family for designation at a later date.

Larry was born on April 21, 1945 in Ohio to Harry B. and Ida R. (Deitsch) Young. After moving to Siouxland in 1981, he finished his education at Western Iowa Technical College and married Connie Jensen on August 12, 1983 at Trimble United Methodist Church. Larry’s work history included St. Mary’s Ohio Foundry, being a truck-driver. He worked at Diosynth, Inc. for 13 years, Zimco, but his last, and favorite job was a bus assistant with SRTS in Sioux City, Iowa for handicapped children. 

Larry was a member of the Moose Club Lodge, and enjoyed motorcycles, woodworking, camping, traveling, spending time with his numerous nieces and nephews, godchildren, other family, and friends. He loved karaoke with everyone, and heading off to the races.

Larry is survived by his wife Connie Young of 43 years; loving daughter Julie (Phillip) Young-Wieging; 3 grandchildren, Justin, Lacey, Megan;  brothers John (Bonnie) Young and Tim Young; sisters Kathy Gibson, Alberta (Paul) Siegrist, Roberta (Mike) Sutter, all of Ohio; grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph Young, Harry “Benny” Young, Steve (Martha) Young, and Daniel (Carolyn) Young; sisters Sharon (Danny) King, and Dorothea (Gean) Ernest England; sisters-in-law Linda Young, Bonnie (Ralph) Young, and Vickie Jensen; father and mother-in-law Bob (Betty) Jensen.

The family would like to thank all the staff, especially the nurses, at Hospice of Siouxland for their service and tremendous care.
