Laura Ann Blair, 62, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at a local hospital surrounded by family and friends. Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Laura was born the daughter of Leo and Marcella (Todd) Blair on May 2, 1962, in Sioux City, Iowa and was welcomed by her four older siblings. She lived on the family farm near Hubbard until her family moved to South Sioux City in 1967. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1980, then attended WITTC and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Laura married John Greason in January 2002, and they made their home in Newnan, Georgia. They later divorced. In 2017 Laura moved to Lincoln; in 2021 she moved to Sioux City; and had resided in Sergeant Bluff since 2023.
She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hubbard and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. She worked for the University of Nebraska Alumni Association and for the State of Nebraska. She was currently employed at GXO Logistics. She was a Husker football fan and in competition with a sister to see who had attended the most games in stadiums of opponents. Her stadiums, in addition to Memorial in Lincoln, were in Kansas City, Ames and Iowa City, Norman, Laurence, Lubbock and a bowl game in Florida.
Laura enjoyed listening and dancing to a variety of music. As the youngest, she was exposed to music from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Her favorite groups were the Beatles and Bay City Rollers. She always had a pet in her life and enjoyed spending time with the pets of her family and friends. She followed the current political news and enjoyed posting on social media, where she would debate the successes and failings of the U.S. government.
Laura is survived by her sister, Maralyn Grimoskas of Dakota Dunes, SD; nephew, C.J. Grimoskas (Tammy Crenshaw) of Charlotte, NC; aunt, Carol Guillaume of Ponca City, OK; many cousins and her beloved cat, Callie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Wayne Blair, Louise Blair and Rita Schlotman; brother-in-law, Joe Grimoskas; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her family wishes to thank Sergeant Bluff Rescue, the staff at Mercy Hospital for their care, along Dena McRoberts, Ruth Greenough and Judy Barker for being there when needed.
