Laura Frances “Fran” Laedtke, 93, of Sioux City passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com
Fran was born March 12, 1929 in Mt. Sterling, IL, the daughter of Lyman Burton and Helen Frances (Davis) Kimmel. She graduated Fairfield High School in Fairfield, IL and attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Fran married Gerald J. “Jerry” Laedtke on December 30, 1956 in Harrisburg, IL. To this union, two sons were born. Jerry preceded Fran in death on February 4, 2021 in Sioux City.
Fran taught school for a time before staying home to raise her sons Steve and Doug. She volunteered at the Sioux City Art Center for the Beaux Arts Guild, Goodwill, and other non-profit organizations. Fran enjoyed arts and crafts, drawing, painting, cross-stitch, and knitting. Later in life she enjoyed her time teaching crocheting and knitting and playing cards with friends at the Senior Center. Fran was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son Steve Laedtke of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law: Keira Thrasher of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Erin Frances Laedtke and Ian Douglas Laedtke of Minneapolis, MN; and her brother Judge Edward Kimmel of Placida, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Laedtke, and son Doug Laedtke.
