Lauren M. Simenson

Lauren M. Simenson, 87, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at a local nursing home.  Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.  There will be a private family service.  Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made to beckerhuntfuneralhome.com. Lauren was born on April 8, 1931 in Fargo, North Dakota to Malven and Laura Simenson.  He lived in Fargo until moving to Sioux City.  He was united in marriage to Janice Hagen on November 21, 1959.  Lauren enjoyed woodworking and tending to his lawn. In his younger years he was an Eagle Scout.  Lauren worked for many years at State Steele before retiring in 1995. Those left to honor his memory include his son: Dana (Kathi) Simenson, Sioux City, IA; daughter: Rita Davenport, South Sioux City, NE; sons: Frank (Rhea) Murphy, Grand Forks, ND, Mike Murphy, CA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Robert Barth, several brothers and sisters, and a son-in-law, Loren Davenport.
