Laurie A. Miller, 59, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 20, 2021.
A celebration of life will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Following the service, everyone is invited to join the family for refreshments and fellowship at First United Methodist Church (1915 Nebraska St.) in Sioux City.
Laurie, the daughter of Michael Joseph “Mick” and Sandra Lee “Sandy” (Holmes) Biggerstaff, was born August 11, 1962 in Westminster, CA. At a very young age, Laurie’s family moved to the Ponca, NE area. She graduated from Ponca High School with the Class of 1980. Following high school, she furthered her education at Wayne State College graduating in 1985. Laurie then moved to Boston to be a nanny for a short time. She returned to make her home in Sioux City and started working for Terra Industries and later at Gateway.
On September 28, 1991, Laurie was united in marriage to Dave Miller and they were blessed with two children Rachel and Taylor. The family made their home in several different communities before returning to Sioux City in the spring of 2001. For the past twenty years, Laurie worked in management at Allied Solutions in Dakota Dunes.
Laurie enjoyed going on road trips, card games, watching tv with her kids, and reading Danielle Steel books. Above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Laurie was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Rachel (Ryan) Goetz and Taylor Miller; four step children: Josh (Keesha) Webster, JoAnna (Micky) Scott, Ashley (Ronnie) Lookingbill, and Theresa (Erick) Edwards; eleven grandchildren; her parents: Mick and Sandy Biggerstaff; one brother, Joe Biggerstaff; one sister, Stacie (Jason) Pfister; honorary daughter, Jamie Holmes; mother-in-law, Jolene Miller; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave on May 30, 2016; maternal grandparents: George and Lois Holmes; paternal grandparents: Joseph and Lola Dale Biggerstaff; and father-in-law, Terry Miller.
